Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall has admitted that he is unsure of how this weekend’s opponents Everton will react following the recent appointment of their new manager.

Danish coach Brian Sørensen was appointed Everton manager during the international break. He will join The Blue Girls from current club Fortuna Hjørring in the summer.

Everton’s first match since Sorensen’s appointment is against Arsenal at Walton Hall Park tomorrow. When speaking in the pre-match press conference, Gunners boss Eidevall admitted that he is unsure how Sørensen’s appointment may impact Everton’s performance in the game.

“It is hard to know how Everton will react,” Eidevall said. “This is the first game that they will play since the appointment of their new manager for next season and even though he’s not on the sidelines, it is a possibility that he will want to see certain things for next season. I don’t know if that will change the way that they will play compared to what they have done in the previous game, that could be one challenge.

“They have some really good individual players and I have been fortunate enough to work with a couple of them myself so I know their qualities. When they express themselves well as a team, they are an excellent team so we go there with the utmost respect, we will play against a very tough opponent and it will require a top performance from us in order to win the game.”

Eidevall went on to say that he has not come across Sørensen in his coaching career to date but he believes that the Dane will be a good addition to the English game.

He said “I don’t think I’ve ever played any competitive games against Brian but I am aware of him, he has been coaching in Denmark for many, many years and has coached one of the top teams there in Fortuna Hjørring.

“He is a very, very knowledgeable person in women’s football and an extremely hard worker. It will be very exciting to see what he can bring here to the league and what he can do with Everton.”

Arsenal’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against Everton kicks-off at 6.45pm on Sunday evening.
