Charlton Athletic midfielder Lois Roche has sustained an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury according to reports on The Addicks’ official website.

The 28-year-old Londoner suffered the injury in the first half of Charlton Athletic’s 2-0 defeat to London City Lionesses at Princes Park at the start of this month. Roche went off in the 21st minute of the match and was replaced by Mia Ross.

The midfielder’s injury has now been assessed and the club have confirmed that Roche has ruptured her ACL and will require surgery. The player will miss Charlton Athletic’s final game of the season against Durham at The Valley on Sunday while she is expected to be sidelined for a large part of next season as she undergoes a period of rehabilitation.

Roche started her senior career with Reading before enjoying spells playing overseas in Finland, Italy and Norway. The player joined Charlton Athletic last summer and she has gone on to feature in 17 of The Addicks’ 21 games in this season’s FA Women’s Championship. Roche scored her only league goal for the South East Londoners in their 3-0 home victory over Watford back in February.

Charlton Athletic will look to secure a top half of the table finish without Roche’s services by winning that game against Durham on Sunday.
