Everton’s interim manager Chris Roberts says that his side are targeting a maximum points return from their final two Barclays FA Women’s Super League matches.

The Blue Girls welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Walton Hall Park on Sunday before ending the campaign at Brighton & Hove Albion.

When speaking in the pre-match press conference ahead of the Spurs game, Roberts acknowledged the fact that his side will face two tough opponents but maximum points is the target.

“Six points makes a big difference, it gives us a much more positive feel ending the season and going into the break,” Roberts said.

“We know we are up against two very good sides who defend well and are very dangerous on the counter. We know that Spurs are a much improved team this year and a really difficult team to play against.

“With respect to both of our opponents, we are looking to get six points from the next two games and finish the year on that high. It doesn’t improve what has been a disappointing season but it does allow us to finish on a positive note.”

This weekend’s fixture against Spurs kicks-off at the unusual time of 7.30pm on Sunday evening. Roberts said that the club need to try different kick-off times to determine what works with fans.

He said “It’s hard to say (how it will impact the crowd). It’s important sometimes to think outside the box and try something different to see if that does attract a different fanbase or more fans. It might work or it might not work but we certainly won’t know until we try it.

“Having big clashes with games all of the time can’t be good for fanbases, especially if the men’s and women’s teams are playing at similar times. We don’t know if it will work but there is certainly an opportunity there for our fans to get to the game. I’m hoping that the fans will come out and support us as they have done and get behind us and I’m sure they will do that.”
