Sheffield United midfielder Kasia Lipka has announced that she will retire from playing at the end of the current season.
The 28-year-old has spent the majority of her career with The Blades in two spells, either side of spending time with Doncaster Rovers Belles and Sunderland.
Lipka was on Sheffield United’s books for more than a decade as a youth while she later returned to the club to represent them as a senior player in the elite game. In her three seasons with The Blades, Lipka has made 47 appearances for the club in the FA Women’s Championship, scoring her only league goal in Sheffield United’s 2-0 victory over Lewes at The Dripping Pan earlier this month.
The midfielder today took to her personal Twitter account to announce her retirement. Lipka has opted to make the decision after the consideration of a number of factors including balancing a full-time career with playing football. Lipka will make her final appearance for Sheffield United on Sunday when they face Crystal Palace in an FA Women’s Championship match at the New York Stadium in Rotherham.

Lipka can bring the curtain down on her Sheffield United career with the club recording a top half of the table finish in the FA Women’s Championship. The Blades will achieve that feat if they better Charlton Athletic’s result against Durham.
