Chelsea defender Millie Bright says that the team’s focus is solely on themselves as they go into the final day of the 2021/2022 Barclays FA Women’s Super League season.

The Blues face Manchester United at Kingsmeadow in their final game. Emma Hayes’ side know that a win will seal another title, although they could also be champions if they match or better Arsenal’s result against West Ham United.

When speaking in the pre-match press conference, Bright said that Chelsea’s behaviours will not change on the final day of the season and that their focus is on putting in a stellar performance for their fans.

“I’m a big believer that nothing needs to change, just keep the same behaviours,” Bright said. “It is something that we have driven into the players on a daily basis – whether it’s a cup final, final day of the season or not, our behaviours stay the same and the quality that we want from each other remains the same in every single training session.

“For us, it is about keeping everyone relaxed which we are, focusing on ourselves because we want to play brilliant football, put on a show and ultimately, get the three points and the win.”

The title race could go down to the wire but Bright said that the team will not be looking at what is happening in the Arsenal game, what will be will be on the day.

She said “Absolutely not (Chelsea won’t keep updated on Arsenal), for us, the focus has been on us all season – obviously, we are aware of other teams’ results and their games. We do watch games throughout the season and it’s good to see your opponents and see what you are going to face but when we get to Kingsmeadow, it is all about us, executing our game plan, getting the job done and sticking together. Once you get on that pitch, nothing else matters.”

Chelsea’s final Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against Manchester United kicks-off at 12pm on Sunday.
