Chelsea and Manchester United go into the final day of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League season with something to play for with title hopes and European aspirations on the line.
The pair meet at Kingsmeadow on Sunday afternoon. Chelsea need a win or to equal Arsenal’s result to lift another league title while Manchester United must win and hope that neighbours Manchester City slip up at Reading to sneak into the final UEFA Women’s Champions League qualification place.
Chelsea manager Emma Hayes goes into the final league fixture of the season with no new injury concerns. Fran Kirby remains sidelined through illness while Melanie Leupolz is not part of the squad as a result of her pregnancy. It seems highly unlikely that many changes will be made to the side which secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Birmingham City at St Andrew’s last weekend.
Manchester United head coach Marc Skinner has the luxury of a virtually fully fit squad to select from this weekend. Long term absentees Millie Turner and Aoife Mannion are the only players who will be unavailable for selection.
The Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture between Chelsea and Manchester United kicks-off at 12pm on Sunday afternoon.
