Blackburn Rovers defender Hannah Coan has signed a new contract with the club according to reports on Rovers’ official club website.

The 20-year-old enjoyed her first full season of regular senior football in 2021/2022 and she proved to be a valuable asset for Gemma Donnelly’s team. Coan appeared in 21 of Blackburn Rovers’ 22 matches in the FA Women’s Championship as the club finished the campaign in tenth position.

Blackburn Rovers manager Donnelly will be hoping for an improved campaign next season and hanging on to some of her most consistent players will be key to that development. It therefore comes as welcome news that youngster Coan will be with the club on a professional basis again next year.

Coan started her career within the well-respected Everton academy system. The player featured for the club at WSL Academy League level but she was only ever given one senior outing by The Blue Girls. The defender was loaned to Sheffield United during the first half of the 2020/2021 season before joining Blackburn Rovers for the second half of that campaign. Coan joined Blackburn Rovers on a permanent basis last summer, signing professional terms in January this year.

Further news of players committing their futures to Blackburn Rovers will be announced by the club in due course.
