Birmingham City have appointed Darren Carter as their permanent head coach according to reports on the Blues’ official website.
The 38-year-old had previously been working in the role on an interim basis but Birmingham City have now handed Carter a permanent position. It has been reported that Carter has initially signed a two-year deal at St Andrew’s.
Carter inherited a Birmingham City side who were battling relegation to the FA Women’s Championship. He was unable to guide the club to safety but performances did improve, a good indicator for the future. The former Blues midfielder is keen to bring the good times back to the club in the long term.
After signing a deal to become permanent Birmingham City head coach, Carter said “This is where is home for me. My full focus is driving this team back to where it belongs and back in the Women’s Super League.
“We want to be competing at the top level, and that is the drive for us now. My drive and passion for this team has only got stronger.”
Carter will now begin work on building his squad for next season as Birmingham City look to target an immediate promotion back to the top flight.
