Spain head coach Jorge Vilda has today announced his provisional 28-player  squad ahead of the UEFA Women’s EURO which is set to take place in England this summer.

The big news for followers of Manchester United is that 22-year-old defender Ona Batlle has been included in the roster.

A familiar face to fans in England, the full-back has been heavily linked with a move away from the Leigh Sports Village this summer with Primera Iberdrola champions FC Barcelona being the possible rumoured destination for the young defender.

Other notable names include reigning Ballon D’Or winner Alexia Putellas, her Barcelona teammate Jenni Hermoso and rumoured Manchester United target Lucía García. García is set to leave her current team Athletic Club upon the expiration of her contract on 30 June with a move to the Barclays FA Women’s Super League with Manchester United thought to be a possibility.

Preparation for La Roja begins on the 12 June in Madrid at the Ciudad de Fútbol while a friendly match against Australia is scheduled for 25 June in Huelva.

The deadline for sides to submit their final rosters for the tournament comes on the following day on 26 June when the Spain squad will need to be trimmed from 28 to 23 players. Following that, nations are allowed to make unlimited changes prior to their opening fixtures in the result of illness, serious injury, or COVID-19.

Manchester United fans will be watching closely too see if their marauding full-back and potential new arrival make the final 23.
