Sunderland captain Keira Ramshaw is one of five players to have agreed a new contract with the Wearside club.
The Lady Black Cats provided a squad update via their official website earlier today which confirmed that Ramshaw, Emma Kelly, Louise Griffiths, Emily Scarr and Jessica Brown have all agreed fresh terms for next season.
Captain Ramshaw was Sunderland’s joint-top scorer in the FA Women’s Championship this season with four goals in 20 games. She topped the club’s goalscoring charts with Neve Herron, a player who is also under contract for next season. Ramshaw is set to begin her 13th season with The Lady Black Cats, spending her entire senior career to date with the club.
Kelly, Griffiths, Scarr and Brown all made at least 20 appearances for Sunderland in the FA Women’s Championship this season as the club secured a ninth-place finish on their return to the elite game. Along with Ramshaw, the quartet are crucial players in the Sunderland team and manager Melanie Reay will be delighted to have retained their services for another year.
Sunderland AFC Ladies are set to rebrand to Sunderland AFC Women this summer in a move which is hoped will further embed the team into the Wearsiders’ ‘one-club’ mentality.
