London City Lionesses goalkeeper Shae Yanez has signed a new contract with the Barclays Women’s Championship club according to reports on their official website.

The 25-year-old stopper has been very consistent in-between the sticks for The Pride in her first two seasons with the club and she can now look forward to a third year in Dartford with Melissa Phillips’ blossoming side.

Pennsylvania-born Yanez joined London City Lionesses in summer 2020 on the back of a short spell in Spain with Santa Teresa. The American arrived in England having briefly appeared in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) with former club Washington Spirit. Yanez has made the London City Lionesses’ goalkeeping jersey her own, carving out a reputation for being hard to beat.

In her time at Princes Park, Yanez has made 44 appearances for London City Lionesses in the Barclays Women’s Championship, keeping 12 clean sheets. The keeper was a member of a London City Lionesses team which recorded their highest-ever Barclays Women’s Championship finish of second place this season.

After extending her contract, Yanez said “I’m really excited for the upcoming season.

“We have a lot to build off from last year, so I’m really looking forward to getting back with everyone and continuing to build off what we accomplished last season.

“There’s been so much growth over the last couple of years, so I’m really looking forward to what’s in store!”

Yanez is the first London City Lionesses player to agree fresh terms with the club this summer.
