Chelsea forward Pernille Harder scored for Denmark as they came from behind to defeat Austria 2-1 in Wiener Neustadt this afternoon.

The two nations met in a UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 warm-up match at the Stadion Wiener Neustadt and the contest proved to be excellent preparation for both sides as they put down the foundations for the start of the tournament finals next month.

The hosts took the lead just before the half-hour mark. A slick attacking move resulted in Marie Höbinger playing in teammate Sarah Zadrazil who calmly slotted the ball beyond Danish keeper Katrine Svane and into the net.

Denmark had to wait until the 65th minute before levelling matters when Harder was played in one-on-one with Manuela Zinsberger and she fired the ball home.

The Danes then went on to find a winning goal through Juventus midfielder Sofie Junge Pedersen.

Austria have been drawn in Group A for this summer’s EUROs alongside England, Norway and Northern Ireland. They kick-off the tournament against England at Old Trafford on 6 July. Denmark will compete in Group B alongside Germany, Spain and Finland. Lars Søndergaard’s side begin their tournament with a match against Germany at Brentford’s Community Stadium in West London on 8 July.
