Blackburn Rovers forward Megan Hornby has signed a professional contract with the club for the 2022/2023 season.

Rovers announced their latest contract news today via a post on their official club website.

Hornby joined Blackburn Rovers last summer after spending two seasons playing her football in the Manchester United academy system with their WSL Academy League side. The youngster is now in her second spell with the Lancashire club after previously enjoying her youth playing in blue and white. Hornby was a member of the Rovers side which won the FA Women’s National League Reserve Northern Division One title in 2018/2019.

Since returning to the club as a senior player, Hornby has made 24 appearances for Rovers in all competitions with 19 of those outings coming in this season’s Barclays Women’s Championship. The player is still awaiting her first senior goal for Gemma Donnelly’s side and she will be hoping to hit the goal trail in 2022/2023 after agreeing a new professional deal with the club.

Hornby’s new deal comes on the back of a busy period for Rovers off the field. Eight players have now agreed new deals with the club for next season. In addition to Hornby, Hannah Coan, Alex Brooks, Helen Seed, Emma Doyle, Lauren Thomas, Ellie Leek and Farah Crompton are remaining at The Sir Tom Finney Stadium beyond the summer.
