Reading defender Deanna Cooper has signed a new two-year contract extension with the Barclays Women’s Super League club.
The 29-year-old centre-back joined The Royals back in summer 2020 after leaving former club Chelsea and the player has been a real consistent figure for Kelly Chambers’ side.
Cooper has made 38 Barclays Women’s Super League appearances for Reading in her two seasons with the club, helping The Royals to record eight clean sheets in those matches. She has formed a solid pairing with fellow centre-back Gemma Evans during the last 12 months.
After signing on again with Reading, Cooper said “I was really super excited to get the deal done, obviously, I’ve enjoyed being at Reading these last two years so it made it really easy for me to make the decision to extend for two more years. I am really excited to see what the future brings.
“It’s a great club, we are very lucky to have incredible coaches and my teammates are great as well so it wasn’t a hard decision to stay.”
Cooper is the first of three announcements which are expected to be made by Reading today. The club could be set to announce details of further contract extensions or new signings. It has been a quiet summer so far at the Select Car Leasing Stadium but the excitement is beginning to build.
