Durham midfielder Mollie Lambert has signed a new contract with the club for the new season according to reports on The Wildcats’ official website.

The 24-year-old has spent the last two seasons with Durham after joining the club from North East neighbours Sunderland in 2020. Lambert featured in all 22 of The Wildcats’ matches in the Barclays Women’s Championship last season as Lee Sanders’ side enjoyed another strong campaign.

Lambert will be hoping to kick on as a full-time professional footballer after extending her contract at Maiden Castle.

After signing on again with Durham, the player said “I’m very pleased to be part of the club next season and I want to be part of this team in our attempt to reach the goal of promotion.

“After a season that didn’t really go our way last year, I think it’s even more important to stay at the club and fix those things that went wrong.

“Being a full-time footballer is something I’ve wanted to do for so long, and the fact it’s happening with Durham it’s just amazing. Not only for me, but for the North East too. It’s exciting times ahead for this club and football around here.”

Lambert joins Sarah Robson and Sarah Wilson in signing a contract extension with Durham this summer.
