Aston Villa have completed the signing of former Everton defender Danielle Turner on a two-year deal according to reports on The Villans’ official club website.

The 30-year-old defender joins Aston Villa on a free transfer after recently leaving former club Everton at the end of her contract.

Turner spent 15 years on Merseyside, coming through Everton’s academy system to play a lead role for the senior team. The player was a 2017 FA Women’s Super League 2 Spring Series winner with the club and became their captain. She also featured in two Vitality Women’s FA Cup finals for The Blue Girls.

Last season saw Turner feature in 21 of Everton’s 22 matches in the Barclays Women’s Super League. She scored two goals for the Merseyside club.

After completing her move to Aston Villa, Turner said “I’m really excited.

“Aston Villa’s a massive club and I’m looking forward to getting stuck into pre-season.

“It’s a big change for me having been at Everton for so long but I’m itching to get going.”

Turner becomes the third new addition at Aston Villa in the summer transfer window. She joins former Everton teammate Simone Magill and Arsenal defender Anna Patten at The Banks’s Stadium. Magill will be sidelined for some time with a serious knee injury.
