Highly-rated Brighton & Hove Albion defender Maya Le Tissier has announced the news that she is leaving the club this summer.
The 20-year-old centre-back was under contract for another season, however, she is now moving on for a fresh challenge.
Le Tissier started her career in her native Guernsey before joining The Seagulls in 2018. The player has made 58 appearances for the club in the Barclays Women’s Super League, scoring two goals. Le Tissier has been tipped for future England honours and her next career move could help push her claims for a senior international call-up.
In a personal statement, Le Tissier said “Four years at Brighton making special memories through the highs and the lows that will stay with me forever, have finally come to an end. For taking me in as a 16-year-old who moved countries into a whole new environment, I’m grateful. I’m also grateful for my teammates, the staff, the fans and the club.
“To my teammates, I can’t thank you enough, my family for a lifetime. To Hope (Powell) and the staff, thank you for giving me an opportunity and putting your trust in me from a young age, faith that I will forever cherish.
“To the fans, your support never goes unnoticed, I’ve loved playing in front of you and I hope you can see that I’ve given you everything I’ve had, every time I wore the shirt.
“Finally to the club, I wish you all the best for the future, thank you for everything.”
Le Tissier is the ninth player to leave Brighton & Hove Albion this summer.
