Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Tinja-Riikka Korpela’s UEFA Women’s EURO is over with the player having tested positive for COVID-19.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news this morning via a squad update from the Finnish Football Association.

Korpela has featured in both of Finland’s matches at the tournament so far against Spain and Denmark but she will miss tomorrow’s game against Germany as she enters a period of self-isolation. The game at Stadium MK will be Finland’s last at this summer’s tournament with Anna Signeul’s side having already been eliminated.

Despite conceding five goals in just two tournament matches, Korpela has performed well for Finland at the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022. The veteran keeper has made some impressive saves and has been a leader at the back. The player will be missed by her team when they play that final match against Germany.

The Finnish captain has collected 109 senior international caps for her country in a career which has spanned 15 years. It remains to be seen whether the 36-year-old will play in another tournament finals.

UEFA’s tournament rules have allowed Finland to call another goalkeeper into the squad. Head coach Signeul has opted to bring in Paula Myllyoja who has been in and around the squad in the pre-camp and during the tournament.
