Blackburn Rovers have announced the news that Chloe Dixon, Katie Anderson, Erica Cunningham and Amaya Coleman-Evans have left the club.

The Lancashire club issued the news via a post on their official website this morning.

Full-back Dixon is the highest-profile departure with the player having appeared in 19 of Blackburn Rovers’ 22 matches in the Barclays Women’s Championship last season. She netted her only goal against former club Sheffield United on the opening day of the season as Blackburn Rovers won 2-0.

Anderson, Cunningham and Coleman-Evans were all fringe players with the trio managing just three league outings between them in 2021/2022.

Six players have now left Blackburn Rovers this summer with Chelsey Jukes and Aimee Hodgson having also moved on. Manager Gemma Donnelly has so far agreed new professional deals with 12 members of last season’s squad but there are still plenty of shirts for potential new signings.

Blackburn Rovers undoubtedly need some new faces this summer if they are to push on in 2022/2023. The club have found themselves at the wrong end of the Barclays Women’s Championship table in the last couple of seasons and they will be keen to change that. Manager Donnelly is expected to recruit a mix of young talent from the local area and experience in a bid to develop her squad further.
