Birmingham City midfielder Christie Murray has signed a new one-year contract with the club.
FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from the Blues earlier today. While Murray has initially signed on again at St Andrew’s for another year, Birmingham City hold an additional one-year option.
Scotland international Murray joined Birmingham City in summer 2020 after leaving former club Liverpool. The player has gone on to make 43 appearances in all competitions for The Blues in which she has scored three goals. Murray has brought dependability and experience with her to the Midlands club.
With Birmingham City head coach Darren Carter boasting a relatively youthful squad, that experience and elite level know-how that Murray brings to the group is crucial. The Blues are aiming to bounce back to the Barclays Women’s Super League at the first attempt this season and experience is a very useful tool for the side to have.
Murray’s new deal is further evidence of the new positive profile being built at Birmingham City by head coach Carter and his assistant Jo Potter. The Blues are making up for lost time and there is a good feeling around the club heading into the new season.
