Former Charlton Athletic full-back Becky Jane has re-joined her former club Reading on an initial one-year deal according to reports on The Royals’ official website.
The 30-year-old defender represented the Berkshire club between 2011 and 2019 in her initial spell. She helped Reading to climb the women’s footballing pyramid and maintain their top tier status.
Since leaving the Select Car Leasing Stadium, Jane has enjoyed a two-year stay at Liverpool before moving to latest club Charlton Athletic last summer. She helped The Addicks to a mid-table finish in the Barclays Women’s Championship. Jane will now return to top tier football with Reading.
After rejoining The Royals, Jane said “It feels like being back home. The guys have been really welcoming, a lot of the same staff that were here when I was last at the club are still here. It’s been a comfortable environment to come back into and one that I’m really enjoying.
“The coaching and the quality of coaching is fantastic. It’s the best that I’ve ever had. I knew coming back in that was always going to be a big factor of it.
“I know my role is slightly different this time around, but I’m relishing to opportunity to come back in, to be a part of the squad and to help the younger ones come through. That’s a massive thing for me.”
Jane becomes Reading boss Kelly Chambers’ second signing of the summer transfer window.
