Swedish international midfielder Rytting Kaneryd linked with Chelsea move

Swedish international midfielder Johanna Rytting Kaneryd is rumoured to be set to join Chelsea according to media reports in her homeland.

The 25-year-old is currently a free agent following the expiry of her contract with Damallsvenskan club BK Håcken.

According to reports by Swedish media outlet Aftonbladet, Rytting Kaneryd is set to complete a move to Barclays Women’s Super League champions Chelsea as early as this week.

Rytting Kaneryd joined latest club BK Håcken last year and she has gone on to make more than 50 appearances for the club in all competitions. The midfielder has a keen eye for goal having netted a goal almost every three games for her former club. Rytting Kaneryd also has plenty of UEFA Women’s Champions League experience spread across three different clubs.

The Swede started her career with Tyresö FF where she was a UEFA Women’s Champions League runner-up in 2013/2014 before joining Älta IF. A move to Djurgårdens IF followed before Rytting Kaneryd joined FC Rosengård where she spent two years. The midfielder then transferred to BK Håcken last year.

On the international stage, Rytting Kaneryd made her senior debut for Sweden in February 2021. She has gone on to make 17 appearances for her country in which she has scored one goal. She made five appearances for Sweden at this summer’s UEFA Women’s EURO.

Rytting Kaneryd is yet to be linked with a move to Chelsea in the English media, however, there is a real possibility that the player will be playing her football at Kingsmeadow this season.
