Crystal Palace goalkeeper Chloe Morgan has announced that she is retiring on the back of an eight-year spell playing in the elite game.
The 32-year-old made the announcement this morning via a post on her personal Twitter account.
Leytonstone-born Morgan started her footballing career with local sides Leyton Ladies and Leyton Orient before joining Tottenham Hotspur in 2014. Morgan played a key role in helping Spurs to climb the women’s footballing pyramid to the top flight. The keeper made 18 appearances for The Lilywhites in their promotion-winning season in 2018/2019 as Spurs sealed their place in the Barclays Women’s Super League.
After a season in the top flight with Spurs, Morgan joined Crystal Palace in summer 2020. She was an ever-present for the South Londoners in her first season at Hayes Lane before playing more of an understudy role for The Eagles last season.
With Crystal Palace having revealed their squad for the 2022/2023 season yesterday, the time is right for Morgan to announce news of her retirement. The player will not be saying her goodbyes to Crystal Palace with Morgan set to take up a brand new off-field role with the club.
Fran Kitching, Natalia Negri and Hope Smith will challenge for the Crystal Palace goalkeeping jersey in the upcoming season.
