Coventry United midfielder Freya Thomas has agreed to remain with the Warwickshire club for the upcoming season.

The Red and Greens announced the news this lunchtime via a post on their official club Twitter account.

Thomas joined Coventry United last summer on a full-time professional basis. The 20-year-old midfielder made 13 appearances for the club in the Barclays Women’s Championship, helping the team to avoid relegation to the FA Women’s National League despite a 10-point deduction.

It has today been announced that Thomas will remain with Coventry United for the coming season in a part-time capacity. The player will also occupy an off-field role with the club in their marketing department.

Thomas has become the third member of Coventry United’s 2021/2022 squad to commit her future to the club. The midfielder joins Katy Morris and Anna Wilcox in signing on again at the Butts Park Arena for the new season. The Red and Greens have also made two new signings so far in midfielder Cara Milne-Redhead and goalkeeper Mia Smith.

With the start of the new season now less than a fortnight away, new Coventry United boss Lee Burch is working hard to piece together his final squad. Expect several more announcements from the club in the coming days.
