Reading forward Emma Harries has a positive outlook ahead of the new season despite having faced a difficult few months with injury.
The 20-year-old has been sidelined since April with a Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL) injury and the striker is likely to start the new season unavailable.
When speaking to FAWSL Full-Time in a recent Reading media session, Harries gave a positive update on her rehabilitation.
“It has been a really hard time off the back of quite a good season for myself personally,” Harries said. “I’m doing really well and I’d like to hope that I will be back really soon.
“It is quite a big injury so I’ve had to take things day-by-day but hopefully, I’ll be back as soon as possible.”
Last season was the second campaign where Harries was regularly involved as a senior Reading player. The forward has set relatively high expectations for herself for the coming season.
She said “I want to build on the standards that I set myself last year.
“After being out with a significant injury, I want to take things game-by-game and get myself back into the swing of it.
“I’m a person who always sets my sights at the highest and hopefully, I can build on what I achieved last year.”
Reading begin the new season against Liverpool at the Select Car Leasing Stadium on Sunday 11 September.
