Liverpool have completed the signing of full-back Charlotte Wardlaw on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea.
FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the deal via an official club press release from The Reds this afternoon. Wardlaw has signed a three-year contract extension at parent club Chelsea prior to going out on loan.
Wardlaw spent last season on loan at Liverpool and she was a member of the side which went on to win both the Barclays Women’s Championship title and promotion to the Barclays Women’s Super League. The youngster made 18 appearances for the club in the second tier while she netted one goal. Wardlaw will now get the opportunity to represent Liverpool in the top flight.
After securing her return to the Merseyside club, Wardlaw said “I’m so excited to be back. I love this club, I loved it last season, I love the girls and I love everything this club stands for.
“The decision was was so easy, I know how everything runs, I know the girls, I know Beardy, and it feels like home here.
“To be able to continue this journey into the WSL is really special. I developed so much under Beardy and all the girls around me.”
Liverpool and Wardlaw begin the 2022/2023 Barclays Women’s Super League season with a fixture against Reading at the Select Car Leasing Stadium on Sunday.
