Manchester United forward Kirsty Hanson has joined the club’s Barclays Women’s Super League rivals Aston Villa on a season-long loan deal.
FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the transfer via an official club press release from Aston Villa this evening.
Hanson has been with parent club Manchester United since the formation of their women’s team back in summer 2018. The player helped the club to promotion to the Barclays Women’s Super League at the first attempt in 2018/2019 while she has scored nine goals in 23 appearances for The Red Devils in the top flight.
The 24-year-old Scotland international has struggled for starts at Manchester United in recent times and she should now get the opportunity to play more minutes whilst on loan at Aston Villa.
After completing the signing of Hanson, Aston Villa boss Carla Ward said “Kirsty is someone I’ve known for many years.
“She’s an exciting talent who will add quality and experience to our forward line.
“She’s a winner and we’re delighted to get her on board.”
Hanson could go straight into the Aston Villa squad for the club’s opening game of the 2022/2023 season at Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday. She is head coach Ward’s eighth signing of the summer transfer window.
