Lewes have completed the signing of Welsh midfielder Zoe Smith.
The Rookettes announced news of the deal via an update on their official club website this morning. Smith’s arrival at The Dripping Pan comes just 24 hours on from Gibraltar international Charlyann Pizzarello completing a move to the Barclays Women’s Championship club.
Smith is a Welsh youth international who has represented her country up to and including Under-19 level. At club level, she has turned out of Sully FC, Barry Town United and Cardiff City Ladies. Smith will now get the opportunity to test herself in the elite game for the very first time with Lewes.
After completing her move to The Dripping Pan, Smith said “I knew out of the Championship clubs that Lewes are the most community-orientated. It’s great at this club, I really enjoy it here and compared to some friends who I know who have gone to other clubs, there’s not that community aspect.
“I’ve fitted in seamlessly here. The girls have been great and it’s a really nice club to be at.
“The whole community aspect of Lewes FC, with everyone getting involved, is great. I watched the Southampton game and it was amazing to see the crowd. It was absolutely insane. The amount of people down for the first home game of the season was just incredible.”
Smith could be available for selection when Lewes take on London City Lionesses at The Dripping Pan on Sunday.
