American midfielder Jamie Rita has completed a move to Barclays Women’s Championship club Lewes.
The Rookettes announced the transfer via a post on their official club Twitter account this afternoon.
Washington-born Rita has spent the early days of her footballing career in her native United States. She played in the Olympic Development Program and the Eastern Development Program before enrolling at Washington State University in 2017. Rita played 22 times for her college team in 2017 and 2018, providing one assist and scoring one goal.
In 2019, Rita moved to the University of Portland. She featured in every game for The Pilots in her first year before repeating the feat in 2020. She has made 35 appearances for the University of Portland in total, providing one assist and scoring three goals.
The midfielder should be a useful addition for new club Lewes. Her consistency in selection in recent years highlights her quality and reliability. If Rita can transfer her performances from college football in the United States to the English elite game, the player has every chance of being a success in the Barclays Women’s Championship.
Rita joins a Lewes side who are proving to be very hard to beat in this season’s Barclays Women’s Championship, although they do need to strike a winning formula.
