Recovering Chelsea manager Emma Hayes is expected to link into first team affairs virtually when The Blues travel to Everton this weekend.

Hayes had an emergency hysterectomy last week and she will spend the immediate future recovering at home.

A management team of Paul Green and Denise Reddy will oversee first team matters in Hayes’ absence starting with the fixture at Everton on Sunday. Despite Hayes resting at home, assistant Green expects her to have plenty of input this weekend, providing that she is well enough to do so.

“Emma will still be involved,” Green said when speaking in the pre-match press conference. “You know what sort of character she is, she will be watching all of the training at home online and she will be linked into the bench on the matchdays as long as she is well enough to do that.

“She will be heavily involved. I’m sure it’ll be difficult for her watching the games at home but hopefully, we can play well in those games and get the results that we need.”

Going on to discuss latest opponents Everton, Green said that he has been impressed with the work that The Blue Girls’ new manager Brian Sørensen has done is a short period of time.

He said “I think Brian has done a really good job in evolving the squad and making some changes from last season, you can see that in the way that they have started,” Green said when speaking in the pre-match press conference.

“They’ve been very impressive and we know that we have a target on our back being the champions of England going up there this weekend.

“He has done a great job in a short time frame and I am sure that he will go on and be a success at Everton.”

Chelsea’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at Everton kicks-off at 1pm on Sunday afternoon.
