Tottenham Hotspur head coach Rehanne Skinner says that her side are ready for the challenge which latest opponents Manchester City will present at The Breyer Group Stadium this lunchtime.

The Lilywhites have won two of their first three games in this season’s Barclays Women’s Super League and they should fear nobody given their status as one of the progressive teams in the league.

When speaking in the pre-match press conference, Spurs boss Skinner said that the Manchester City fixture will be a good test for her side and they are looking forward to their latest challenge.

“It is going to be a difficult game, they are an experienced team in terms of club structure,” Skinner said. “They’ve got a lot of new players so they will probably be doing similar to us in terms of bedding them in.

“The frequent international breaks in the early part of the season disrupts the flow that you are trying to get but ultimately, it’ll be a good test for us and we are ready for the challenge. We want to keep working hard and improving game-on-game this season.”

Manchester City have had a challenging start, exiting the UEFA Women’s Champions League at the first hurdle and losing two of their three league fixtures. Skinner said that she is not taking The Cityzens’ form into consideration.

She said “They are always a side that you need to be really mindful of and they’ve got players in there that have a lot of experience. If you look back at last year, they didn’t win a lot of games at the start then they obviously did really well as the season went on.

“People talk about lots of teams in lots of different ways, ups and downs and the rest of it but it’s football, it’s going to be a test and they are going to make it difficult for us. We are prepared and we want to make it as difficult for them as possible going into our home game in particular. We just need to focus on doing our job to be able to capitalise on anything that they are not quite right with.

“They are an established team and we have just got to make sure that we are ready.”
