Liverpool midfielder Ceri Holland is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a groin injury.

The Reds announced the news via a post on their official club Twitter account this morning.

The club have not put a timeframe on Holland’s recovery, however, they have confirmed that the midfielder will be out for several weeks. The injury has forced the player to withdraw from international duty with the Welsh national team later this month.

Holland’s injury comes at an important point in Liverpool’s season. After a difficult start to the new campaign, The Merseyside club have a run of fixtures against teams who they will hope to compete with. The midfielder is likely to miss games against the likes of Aston Villa, Brighton & Hove Albion, Reading and West Ham United, matches where the three points will be really keenly contested.

Liverpool boss Matt Beard has handed four appearances to Holland in this season’s Barclays Women’s Super League. The player has started three of those matches. Holland has been a real asset for The Reds since joining the club in the January 2021 transfer window.

The player will now begin her rehabilitation as she looks to make a successful return to fitness as soon as possible.
