Chelsea’s general manager Paul Green says that the team are preparing for this evening’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture against Manchester United as they would any other game.

The Blues travel to The Leigh Sports Village to take on the early season Barclays Women’s Super League leaders. Manchester United have won all five of their league matches so far without conceding a single goal.

This evening’s game promises to be a real spectacle but it is very much business as usual for Chelsea according to their general manager Green.

“It is just another game to us, it is pretty much business as usual really,” Green said when speaking in the pre-match press conference. “Yes, we are both at the top end of the table but there are still only three points available to win. It is a long season so we are just approaching it like we do any game.

“We are all looking forward to going up against the early pace-setters, we are on a really good run ourselves and we’ve got a lot of momentum behind us.”

Chelsea were emphatic 6-1 winners when they last faced Manchester United at The Leigh Sports Village in September 2021. Green went on to say that much has changed since that game.

He said “I think that Marc (Skinner) has improved the squad, they’ve got more strength-in-depth now and he has been there a lot longer than when we played them in one of the early games last season. I think that he has had time to get his ideas across and develop his squad.

“We’ve been impressed with how they have started the season but equally, we are really pleased with where we are and how we have recovered from that opening day defeat to Liverpool. We are in a strong vein of form ourselves, scoring plenty of goals so we are really excited for the game.”

Chelsea’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at Manchester United kicks-off at 6.45pm.
