Despite falling to their first defeat of the new season last weekend, Manchester United have enjoyed a positive start in the 2022/2023 Barclays Women’s Super League.

The Red Devils went into the international break in third place having collected 15 points from an available 18.

Ahead of the return of Barclays Women’s Super League action next weekend, FAWSL Full-Time have been reviewing the early season statistics provided by Soccerway. Here are some of the numbers behind Manchester United’s early season form.

5 – One of the biggest contributing factors to Manchester United’s good start is their ability to keep clean sheets. Goalkeeper Mary Earps has kept five clean sheets in six league matches, an impressive record.

15 – Manchester United have developed a trend of netting early goals. More than a quarter of their goals scored (26.7%) have come in the first 15 minutes of matches. If Marc Skinner’s side continue to break down opponents early on, they will find points easier to come by.

9 – Manchester United’s away form has improved this season, the club have taken nine points out of nine on the road so far. Last season saw Manchester United win four of 11 games on the road while they collected just 17 points from an available 33.

0 – Skinner’s side are yet to fail to score in a game this season. Even in their defeat to reigning champions Chelsea, Manchester United got themselves on the scoresheet. Goals don’t always win games but they give you a real chance.

60 – On average, Manchester United have conceded their first goal in the 60th minute. Of course, Chelsea are the only team to score against The Red Devils so far this season but if they can keep that statistic high, they will always be competing for points going into the latter stages of games.

2.5 – Manchester United have scored 15 goals so far this season, an average of 2.5 goals per game. If you look at the teams that have traditionally got into the top three, they’ve scored goals by the bucketload. The Red Devils need to keep their goal average high to have any chance of European football.
