Arsenal boss Jonas Eidevall believes that latest opponents Juventus can compete with virtually any team in this season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League.

The Gunners have travelled to Italy ahead of their latest group stage match at the Allianz Stadium on Thursday evening.

Arsenal are top of their group with two wins from two while Juventus are second having collected four points from their two group matches.

When speaking in the pre-match press conference, Arsenal boss Eidevall said that Juventus can be a match for any club in Europe on their day.

“They’re a very competitive team,” Eidevall said. “I think Juventus as a club in the Women’s Champions League have consistently shown over the past few seasons that they can compete with any team in Europe. They’ve been doing very well so we have lots of respect for that.

“We understand and we’re fully aware that it will take a very good performance from us tomorrow in order for us to get the result.”

The Italian Serie A Femminile maybe doesn’t attract the same spotlight as the likes of the English, French or German leagues but Eidevall has identified huge improvements in the competitiveness of the Italian club game.

He said “I see massive growth in Italian club football on the women’s side. I think there are a lot of teams that are competitive. I see exciting games when I want to watch the Italian league. You can also see in the league table that it’s very competitive there now, with the top six teams that can qualify for the second round of the season. It’s definitely one of the leagues in Europe that is most rapidly improving.”

Arsenal’s UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage fixture against Juventus kicks-off at 8pm on Thursday evening.
