Swedish coach Andrée Jeglertz is rumoured to be a potential target for the managerial vacancy at Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 50-year-old former Finnish national team boss is currently the head coach of Swedish club Linköpings FC but he could be set to move into the Barclays Women’s Super League in the very near future.

Well-respected Swedish media outlet Aftonbladet have suggested that Jeglertz is a target for Brighton & Hove Albion. Current club Linköpings FC are keen to retain their head coach’s services for the long term, however, Jeglertz’s future is very much in the air and he could opt to further his career in England. Linköpings FC have neither admitted or denied that Jeglertz could be moving on to Brighton & Hove Albion with an official update from the Swedish club expected to follow in the coming days.

Jeglertz has almost two decades of coaching experience under his belt which has seen him lead established clubs in the women’s game including Umeå, Djurgårdens IF and Linköpings FC. He led Umeå to their second UEFA Women’s Champions League title back in 2004 while Jeglertz is a twice-crowned Damallsvenskan Coach of the Year winner.

On the international stage, Jeglertz spent six years as head coach of the Finnish national team. He led the team at UEFA Women’s EURO 2013 where they failed to get out of their group. Jeglertz recorded a 35.53% win rate during his time in charge, a record that can only be beaten by Anna Signeul.

Barclays Women’s Super League club Brighton & Hove Albion have been searching for a new manager since former boss Hope Powell stepped down on 31 October. The club could now be edging towards concluding their recruitment process should speculation in Sweden prove to be accurate.
