Liverpool will be hoping to seal their place in the quarter-finals of this season’s FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup when they face Manchester City at Prenton Park on Wednesday.

The Reds have won all three of their group stage matches to date and another win will see them qualify for the last-eight. As for Manchester City, they are playing catch up, although they also have maximum points from their group games. The Cityzens need a positive result against Liverpool to avoid a lottery for the one runners-up qualification place. Gareth Taylor’s side do have one further group game to play later this month.

Liverpool manager Matt Beard is expected to have a near-fully fit squad available for selection with forward Leanne Kiernan set to be the only absentee. With qualification on the line, Beard could opt to name a strong starting XI rather than adopt some squad rotation.

Manchester City head coach Taylor is unlikely to risk forward Lauren Hemp, even if she is declared fully fit. Vicky Losada is also likely to be missing once again. Taylor must make the tough decision whether to make changes to his side or not. The Cityzens have a huge Manchester derby coming up against neighbours Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium at the weekend.

The FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup fixture between Liverpool and Manchester City is scheduled to kick-off at 7pm on Wednesday evening. Tickets remain on-sale and can be purchased by clicking here.
