Crystal Palace have confirmed the news that defender Isabella Sibley has undergone surgery on an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury.

The Eagles provided the fitness update via a post on their official club website this evening.

The player sustained the injury recently and she will now spend the remainder of the 2022/2023 campaign in rehabilitation.

The injury is a real blow for Sibley with the defender having enjoyed a successful first half of the season on a personal level. The 23-year-old has made seven appearances for Crystal Palace in all competitions while she scored the winning goal against London City Lionesses on the opening day of the season.

Sibley has a big future at Crystal Palace but for now, her development must be put on hold while she makes a full recovery from her injury. The player will undoubtedly be missed during her period on the sidelines.

Crystal Palace will hope to end 2022 on a winning note when they travel to neighbours Charlton Athletic for an FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup fixture on Sunday lunchtime. The pitch at The Oakwood is thought to still be frozen, however, with temperatures set to rise, both clubs will be hoping for the opportunity to play one final game in this calendar year.
