Manchester United will face Maltese club Birkirkara FC in a mid-season friendly next month.

The Red Devils have now entered the Christmas break but Marc Skinner’s side will reassemble very early in the New Year and will head to Malta for a warm weather mid-season training camp.

The club have lined-up a mid-season friendly against Maltese club Birkirkara FC as part of their preparations for the second half of the season. The match will take place at Hibernians Stadium in Paola on Friday 6 January and will kick-off at 6pm. Manchester United are not scheduled to return to competitive action until Sunday 15 January when they take on Matt Beard’s Liverpool side at the Leigh Sports Village. Their mid-season trip to Malta will help prepare them for that match after a month-long spell without domestic football.

The Red Devils are aiming to write a new chapter to their history this season. Skinner’s side are pushing hard for a first European qualification while they may even take the Barclays Women’s Super League’s title race down to the wire. Manchester United went into the Christmas break in third position in the league table having collected 22 points from an available 27.
