Everton manager Brian Sørensen says that he is happy with the quality in his squad going into the January transfer window.

The Blue Girls signed 10 players in the summer window as a major rebuild took place on Merseyside but there will be no repeat of Sørensen’s squad-building activities next month.

When recently speaking to FAWSL Full-Time, the Everton boss said that he is expecting a quiet window with little or no business to be conducted by the club.

“I don’t think that we are going to do a lot in the January window,” Sørensen said. “We are happy with the squad that we have at the moment.

“If there is any interest in our players, that is out of our control and we will react on that and see where we are but in terms of bringing a lot in, that’s not the case.

“We could bring in one or something like that but it won’t be 10 like we did in the summer, we are definitely not doing that again. We are heading in the right direction with our squad and if anything comes up, we look at it.

“We are happy with how things are at the moment and we are expecting a slow and easy transfer window this time.”

It has taken Everton time to gel but the team are making clear steps forward in their development. Sørensen said that the return of players following injury is helping the cause.

He said “We are here to build something and I can see that we are taking all of the right steps. When we look back at the stats, we can see that we are making progress.

“We want to create more goalscoring opportunities that’s for sure but that’s also down to what players you have available and have they been available at the same time? I think we are there now, we still have a couple out but it has been consistent over the last month in terms of having attacking players back and fit.

“We are definitely taking steps in the right direction.”

Everton return to action after the mid-season break with a home fixture against Reading in the Barclays Women’s Super League on 15 January 2023.
