Beth England says that she is looking to bring the very best version of herself to new club Tottenham Hotspur.
The 28-year-old forward completed her move from Chelsea to Spurs this lunchtime in what could be a record-breaking transfer deal for the English game. England has signed an initial three-and-a-half-year deal with The Lilywhites.
When speaking to Spurs’ official media team after completing her move to North London, England said that her aim is to help the club get to where they want to be in the long term.
“It’s obviously a big day for myself and I’m excited to get going,” England said. “The club have a lot of ambition so I’m hoping that I can add to that and hopefully, get the club to where it wants to be.”
England went on to say that she hopes to bring goals, leadership and huge levels of competitiveness to Spurs. Ultimately, she wants the North London club to witness her performing at her very best.
She said “It’ll be an amazing new chapter for me. Hopefully, I can bring a lot of goals to the club, experience and a bit of leadership in the front line.
“I’m quite a driven person, a strong person and I can be a loud character. I do my best and I’m extremely competitive, I don’t care if it is a game of cards or bingo, I want to win. I’m quite a loud person naturally so I have no doubt that they’ll figure that out quickly and I’m not shy about saying how I feel.
“It is about making sure that people have the same goals and want the same things. I have to adapt to a new way of playing but I’m excited about that. It is just making sure that there’s a level of understanding about what everyone wants, there’s a respect there and from that, there should be a good movement going forward.
“I want to bring the best Beth I can to this team.”
England is Spurs boss Rehanne Skinner’s first signing of the January transfer window.
