Serbian international midfielder Dejana Stefanović has joined Brighton & Hove Albion on an initial 18-month deal.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the transfer via an official club press release from Brighton & Hove Albion this morning.

Stefanović joins The Seagulls after most recently playing her football in Norway with Vålerenga. The player is new Brighton & Hove Albion boss Jens Scheuer’s second signing of the January transfer window after the club completed a deal for Norwegian international defender Guro Bergsvand yesterday.

The 25-year-old defence-minded midfielder started her career in France with ASPTT Albi before moving to Norway where she has enjoyed spells with Avaldsnes and latest club Vålerenga. On the international stage, Stefanović is an important member of the Serbian national team.

After completing the capture of Stefanović, Brighton & Hove Albion head coach Scheuer said “I know her from playing for the Serbia national team, she has done really well for her country.

“She is a strong midfielder and good at the defensive side, but she can build up the game as well.

“She has also got the physical strength that we need in midfield.”

Stefanović could make her Brighton & Hove Albion debut next weekend, subject to international clearance, when the club travel to The King Power Stadium to face Leicester City.
