Former Arsenal attacker Alex Hennessy has left latest club West Ham United by mutual consent.

The Hammers confirmed the news this morning via a squad update on their official club website.

Hennessy joined West Ham United on a free transfer in the summer. The youngster has represented the East Londoners at WSL Academy League level but has not been offered any senior minutes by West Ham United manager Paul Konchesky. Following discussions between Hennessy and the Club, the decision has been made for her to move on to pursue a fresh challenge.

The 18-year-old made her name in the Arsenal academy system. Hennessy was tipped to be one of the brightest young talents to come out of The Gunners’ youth set up. The attacker made her senior debut for Arsenal as a substitute in their 4-0 victory at Reading in the early stages of last season. Hennessy spent the second half of last season on loan at Barclays Women’s Championship club Crystal Palace where she scored one goal in nine appearances.

Hennessy’s next career destination is not yet known. Given the player’s eagerness to establish herself in the senior game, it is likely that she will join a club who could offer her some regular game time.
