Everton have completed the signing of midfielder Clare Wheeler on a permanent deal from Danish club Fortuna Hjørring.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from Everton this afternoon.

Wheeler had been on loan at Everton but manager Brian Sørensen has been able to thrash out a permanent deal for the Australian international. The Blue Girls have paid an undisclosed fee to secure Wheeler’s services on a permanent basis while the player has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal at Walton Hall Park.

The midfielder has made seven appearances in all competitions for Everton so far this season. Wheeler will now be hoping to play a more significant role in the team during the second half of the campaign.

After signing for Everton on a permanent basis, Wheeler said “I’m excited, delighted, just really happy to stay here.

“Playing for Everton was something I had to work to achieve and I’m really thankful to Brian (Sørensen) for bringing me here.

“I’ve really enjoyed the past six months. To have the opportunity to stay here for even longer is perfect.”

Wheeler and Everton return to Barclays Women’s Super League action following the mid-season break when they take on Reading at Walton Hall Park on Sunday afternoon.
