Chelsea forward Maika Hamano scored a brace on her debut for loan club Hammarby IF as they defeated local rivals AIK 6-1 earlier today.

The 18-year-old Japanese international netted her two goals towards the end of the first half as the Swedish club came from behind to chalk up a huge victory at Kanalplan.

With Hammarby 1-0 down, Hamano levelled matters with a real rocket of a shot. She picked up the ball on the edge of the box before thumping a powerful effort beyond the AIK keeper and into the net. Two minutes later, the forward netted her second goal, chesting the ball down from a cross and striking it home from eight yards.

Hammarby lined-up with a new XI in the second half with Hamano getting the opportunity to rest her legs. The hosts went on to score four more unanswered goals as they ended the match 6-1 winners.

Hamano has been sent to Hammarby on loan to further her development after joining Chelsea earlier this month. The teenager signed for The Blues from Japanese club INAC Kobe Leonessa. The move is arguably one of the most eye-catching transfers of the current window so far.

Hamano is one of the brightest prospects to come out of Japanese football in recent times. The forward’s early career highlights include winning the Golden Ball and Silver Boot at the FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup Costa Rica 2022.
