Chelsea and Liverpool will be hoping to return to winning ways in the Barclays Women’s Super League when they meet at Kingsmeadow on Sunday afternoon.
The Blues battled to a 1-1 draw at Arsenal last weekend while Liverpool went down 6-0 to Manchester United at the Leigh Sports Village. Neither side started 2023 with their best performance and they will be hoping to give their supporters more to cheer about this weekend.
Chelsea manager Emma Hayes is expected to have no fresh injury concerns to contend with for her side’s latest league fixture. Danish international attacking midfielder Pernille Harder continues to recover from surgery and is not yet in a position to return while Melanie Leupolz is rebuilding her fitness following maternity leave. Defender Aniek Nouwen has moved out on loan to AC Milan and will therefore not be a member of the squad for the remainder of the season.
Liverpool manager Matt Beard continues to be without the services of long-term absentees Rylee Foster and Leanne Kiernan while youngster Hannah Silcock is unavailable due to ongoing studies. New signings Fuka Nagano and Miri Taylor could be available for selection.
The Barclays Women’s Super League fixture between Chelsea and Liverpool kicks-off at 12.30pm on Sunday afternoon. Tickets remain on-sale and can be purchased by clicking here.
