Newcastle United have completed the double signing of Lewes defender Charlyann Pizzarello and former Coventry United midfielder Cara Milne-Redhead.

The Magpies announced news of their double transfer swoop via an update on their official club website earlier today.

Gibraltar international Pizzarello has spent the last four months playing her football in the Barclays Women’s Championship with Lewes. The defender has made five appearances for The Rookettes in all competitions. Pizzarello has largely been used as a substitute by Lewes head coach Scott Booth.

Midfielder Milne-Redhead left former club Coventry United earlier this month. She spent the first half of the season with The Red and Greens. The former Manchester United and Manchester City academy player made nine substitute appearances for Coventry United in all competitions.

Pizzarello and Milne-Redhead join a Newcastle United side who are currently occupying second place in the FA Women’s National League Division One North. The Magpies have some catching up to do on league leaders Durham Cestria but they do have the benefit of having two games-in-hand.

The Tyneside club’s new additions could go straight into the squad for Sunday’s FA Women’s National League Division One North fixture at Chorley. The pair will be hoping to help Newcastle United finally climb the footballing pyramid.
