Manchester City midfielder Laura Coombs has signed a new two-year contract extension with the club.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from Manchester City this afternoon.

Coombs is in her fourth season with Manchester City after joining the club from Liverpool in summer 2019. The player has made 79 appearances in all competitions for The Cityzens in which she has scored 13 goals. She has won both the Vitality Women’s FA Cup and FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup with Manchester City.

The midfielder has had to be patient for minutes but Coombs has really stepped up this year and she is enjoying her most successful season at The Academy Stadium to date. The 32-year-old will be hoping to continue to go from strength-to-strength with Manchester City after signing her new deal.

After extending her contract with The Cityzens, Coombs said “I’m really happy to get this sorted. I feel really settled and valued at Manchester City. We’ve got a great group here that’s so ambitious and so driven, and I’m very happy to continue to be a part of that.

“Anyone who comes to City knows that they’ll develop as a player – that was a big reason for me coming here initially and now extending my deal again. As long as I’m here, I know I will continue to do just that.

“When I go out on the pitch right now, I feel super confident, I know my role in the team, and Gareth (Taylor) always pushes me to do more.

“Right now, this is probably the most consistent football of my career which is great, and I can’t wait to continue that in the years to come.”

Coombs will be looking to help Manchester City take another step towards winning more silverware tomorrow night when The Cityzens travel to Arsenal for a FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup semi-final.
