Barclays Women’s Championship club Lewes will play host to Barclays Women’s Super League leaders Manchester United in the quarter-finals of this season’s Vitality Women’s FA Cup.
The Vitality Women’s FA Cup quarter-final draw took place live on The One Show on BBC One this evening. Former Barclays Women’s Super League defender Gilly Flaherty was tasked with conducting the draw.
Lewes are the lowest-ranked side left in the competition and they have been handed a dream money-spinning tie against high-flying Manchester United at The Dripping Pan. The Rookettes were one of the eye-catching performers in the fifth round after seeing off Cardiff City Ladies 6-1 on home soil.
Elsewhere in the draw, Vitality Women’s FA Cup holders Chelsea face a tricky trip to the Select Car Leasing Stadium to face a Reading side that have caused them a fair few problems in the past. Aston Villa host Manchester City, six months on from a 4-3 thriller at Villa Park, while Birmingham City will take on Brighton & Hove Albion at St Andrew’s.
The four Vitality Women’s FA Cup quarter-final ties are scheduled to take place on the weekend of 18/19 March 2023.
