Manchester City and England legend Jill Scott will make her Soccer Aid for UNICEF debut in this year’s event at Old Trafford in June.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official press release from Soccer Aid for UNICEF.

It has been reported that Scott will captain the England side, a team that has not won at Soccer Aid for UNICEF since 2018. Scott will play alongside fellow debutants including former Lioness Karen Carney, Chelsea’s UEFA Champions League-winning defender Gary Cahill and Arsenal’s two-time Emirates FA Cup-winning midfielder, Jack Wilshere. Forward Jermain Defoe will also make his England return in the event.

In her 16-year England career, Scott won 161 senior caps and scored 27 goals. The highlight of her career was being a member of The Lionesses squad that won the UEFA Women’s EURO last summer.

The 36-year-old won nine trophies at club level, seven of which came whilst playing for Manchester City. Scott will now look to add a new chapter to her footballing career in Manchester by appearing in Soccer Aid for UNICEF.

Speaking following the announcement, Scott said “The Euros, The Jungle and now Soccer Aid for UNICEF – it’s the holy trinity. I’ve won two of them, so I just need Soccer Aid now to complete ‘The Treble’.

“I think of all three, this might be the one I’m most nervous about though – just look at the names involved. Buy a ticket, support this amazing cause and cheer us on!.”

This year’s Soccer Aid for UNICEF takes place at Old Trafford, home of Manchester United, on Sunday 11 June. Tickets are on-sale and can be purchased by clicking here.
